If you haven’t been aware it seemed like forever that an Uncharted movie wasn’t ever get off the ground. But that is until now when Tom Holland was interviewed by IGN. While Holland was promoting his upcoming Pixar movie Onward he revealed that UNCHARTED begins shooting in four weeks, which would mean production should set around mid March.
Holland said to IGN “We start shooting in like four weeks. Mark Wahlberg is going to be amazing as Sully. The stunt department that we have out there in Berlin have done an amazing job already, prepping the stunts, and it’s going to be an exciting one.”
It seems like for a film that had such a hard time getting off the ground, it’s hard to believe that shooting on the project could actually getstarted so soon, the film has seen a series of complications, mostly with directors coming on and off the film Dan Trachtenberg but he left over creative differences. Bumblebee director Travis Knight came on board after Trachtenberg but he left the project over scheduling conflicts. Ruben Fleischer director of the ZOMBIELAND films & VENOM, was the last rumored director to be taking on the project but given that shooting starts so soon, maybe there is some truth to that news.
Tom Holland also took the time to reveal whih Uncharted video game has been thebiggest inspiration for the film. Also viaIGN, Holland says that Uncharted 4: AThief’s End, has influenced the direction they’re taking the most:
“If I’m honest, one of my favorite videogames ever is the fourth Unchartedgame…Unbelievable. And lots of the Inspiration from the film has come from that game in particular.”
