A few months back it was reported that New Mutants Director Josh Boone and CBS All Access will be adapting a limited 10 episode show or Stephen King’s The Stand, it looks like the show will be released by the end of 2020, Arrow in the Head got word today that filming is almost finished! Director Chris Fisher
posted the update over on Instagram, writing:
Second to last day on Stephen King The Stand – this has been a life-changing opportunity to direct one of the most important, epic, and terrifying stories ever told. And one that desperately needs to be retold today.
THE STAND’s rundown via Amazon:
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides — or are chosen. A world in which good rides on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abigail — and the worst nightmares of evil are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the dark man.
The current cast includes James Marsden (WESTWORLD) as Stu Redman, Amber Heard (AQUAMAN) as Nadine Cross, Whoopi Goldberg (GHOST) as Mother Abagail, and Greg Kinnear (TWILIGHT ZONE) as Glen Bateman. Shock rocker Marilyn Manson also has a role in the new adaptation along with Odessa Young (ASSASSINATION NATION) as Frannie Goldsmith, and Henry Zaga (NEW MUTANTS) as Nick Andros.
As a huge Stephen King fan I’m excited for this show but at the same time I’m sanded, because I’m not going to be able to enjoy it with the rest of the CBS all access streaming service audience since I don’t feel like paying for another streaming service at the movement. But hopefully they’ll release it on Blu Ray in the future and only then I’ll be able to watch The Stand.
