Screen rant reports that the Coronavirus madness will not defeat the upcoming May 4th and Revenge of the 5th celebration! A virtual convention has been planned for fans.
Since its conception in 2011, May 4th has become a hallowed tradition for Star Wars fans alike, even though it is not a Lucasfilm creation but fan-made.
Each year marks new and creative ways to keep this tradition alive through cosplays, reviewing the films, and connecting with other fans. The day after is known as the Revenge of the fifth.
In the past, there have been legal discrepancies with Disney over the rights to the hashtag #Maythe4th, but that hasn’t stopped the millions of fans from using this tag on their social media pages. With the rise of the evil COVID-19 dismantling many conventions and social gatherings around the world, it has made public meetings impossible, yet the force remains strong within the fans.
Nevertheless, there is hope on the horizon as an online Star Wars convention has been planned by Reedpop and announced by THR, which will enable fans to continue to celebrate. This virtual convention consists of a two-day event with numerous live happenings. Check out the itinerary below :
The event will take place on various Reedpop social media accounts such as New York Comic-Con, C2E2, BookCon, Emerald City Comic Con, and Florida Super Con. This two-day event will NOT feature cast members from the Star Wars franchise, but viewing parties of all three films from the original trilogy, as well as live-tweet events of Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Solo: A Star Wars Story
Despite the current pandemic we are in, it is nice to know there is hope in connecting with other fans’ through the use of technology. Stay strong and well everyone .
