Deadline is reporting that the hit family sci-fi comedy Short Circuit has been in the works for nearly a decade now and after seeing a number of directors behind the project, a new iteration is at the works at Spyglass Media Group that will give the film a Latinx focus.

Plot details on the updated version of the story are currently under wraps, but it’s been revealed the new film will be scripted by Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman, who previously worked together on the upcoming comedy Half Brothers helmed by Luke Greenfield (Let’s Be Cops) and starring Luis Gerardo Méndez (Charlie’s Angels), which is slated for a December 4 release.

The original film, directed by John Badham (Saturday Night Fever) and written by S.S. The new sci-fi comedy will be produced by Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak with Rehab Entertainment’s John W.
