A few weeks ago joblo.com reported that Scott Derrickson left Doctor Strange 2 over creative differences.
Even though Derrickson’s departure from the highly-anticipated film placed a bit of a stinker on the hype for Dr.Strange’s next solo adventure, faith had quickly been restored when word broke that EVIL DEAD and SPIDER-MAN trilogy director Sam Rami was in talks to cast a spell as the sequel’s new director.
While fans are still waiting for a confirmation on Raimi coming back to Marvel for a bit of “Strange” filmmaking, Derrickson fans have been curious with regard to what project the SINISTER director would enjoy developing for DC and Warner Bros. Entertainment.
When asked if he’d consider helming an adaptation of Justice League Dark, Derrickson replied that he’d be interested in helming a new film featuring the character John Constantine.
Created by Alan Moore, Stephen R. Bissette, Rick Veitch and John Totleben, John Constantine is a featured member of the ensemble superhero team Justice League Dark. In the past, a variety of DC’s more supernatural-themed characters have served as members of the black magic-wielding bunch, such as Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Detective Chimp, Man-Bat, and even Wonder Woman, just to name a few. As a master of the dark arts, John Constantine is often viewed as a charismatic nuisance among his superhero peers. He’s constantly getting into mischief, and in some cases, has been either directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of more than a few DC characters.
