Well here we are again making another announcement about Sony’s Uncharted movie finding another director. I bet Sony’s office door is busy with directors going in and out of it, when you look at the slate of directors leaving like David O Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenburg, and Travis Night. It seems like the movie gods just doesn’t want this movie to see the light of day.
But according to Deadline/joblo.com Sony has found themselves another director, and that director is Venom’s and ZombieLand: Double Tap director Ruben Fleischer. So will Fleischer be the director responsible for giving Uncharted the light of day? Time will only tell if he’s going to stick around or if he’s going to leave the project like other directors before him. As of right now Tom Holland is still attached to the project as Nathan Drake, with Mark Wahlberg also attached to star as Victor “Sully” Sullivan,” an American treasure hunter fortune seeker, and businessman, as well as friend, mentor and father figure to Drake.
Wahlberg was originally set to play Nathan Drake when David O. Russell was attached was attached to direct nearly a decade ago. Production on UNCHARTED is expected to kick off sometime this year with a script from Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, and Sony is hoping to get this one in the can before Holland shoots the next SPIDER-MAN film.
If you’re wondering why I’m being a Debby downer it’s because of the series of directors that came and went and this movie is still not being filmed yet, and for right now until this movie breaks production my excitement for it has died.
