GAME OF THRONES PREQUEL HOUSE OF THE DRAGON GETS 2022 RELEASE DATE!

Let’s be honest for a minute the conclusion of Game of Thrones was a let down, compared to other seasons of the show. But last year we announced that HBO will be doing a prequel story around George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” this time the show will start out 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The book is about the history of the House of Targaryen which will be starting off with Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and [going on] to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold the throne, all the way up to the civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, that nearly tore their dynasty apart.”

Deadline reported that HBO president of programming Casey Bloys stated that House of the Dragon is on track for a debut in 2022, but said that it’s too early to be more specific than that. “They are starting writing,” Bloys said, adding that much like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is shaping up to be a “big, complicated show.” The series was one of several Game of Thrones projects which HBO was developing, but Bloys indicated that the other spinoffs are on hold.

“For me for right now, I think getting House of the Dragon on the air will be the number one priority. There are no other blinking green lights or anything like that. Sometime down the road who knows, but there are no immediate plans. We are all focusing on House of the Dragon.”

As for me right now, I’m excited to revisit the universe that George R.R. Martin has created, and I’m excited to learn about characters that came before Game of Thrones. In the meantime I’m going to be sitting in my uncomfortable computer chair pretending that I’m sitting in that uncomfortable throne.
