In a recent interview with Collider magazine, Chad Stahelski confirmed that he and Leitch are coming back to work on the latest Matrix installment. Stahelski states that their work on the film will be from a conceptual standpoint rather than hands-on.
It’s more about the creative concept of some of the choreography and backing them up with stuff,” Stahelski explained. “Other than the Matrixes, most of their stuff…what makes [Lana] so great is she directs her own action. We’ve had second unit directors on some of the Matrixes just because of the logistics involved. But of late, and especially on Matrix 4, she’s directing her own action. The second units for them are mostly establishing shots, the B-sides of the some of the compositions for some locations. But Lana, she does her own action. She weaves it into the main unit stuff, which is why their stuff looks so good.”
Lana Wachowski, who co-wrote the script for the Matrix movies, will return along with Aleksander Hermon and David Mitchell to direct. Although a plot for Matrix 4 has not been established, it is sure to be a blockbuster like its predecessors.
Stahelski also stated that fans of the original trilogy would not be disappointed with the work they are contributing to the film. He is very excited about the project and eager to return to work after the pandemic settles. Be sure to stay tuned for more details at Movie Lovers Unite on all social media platforms. Matrix 4 is set to be released on May 21, 2021.
