Britt Lawerence from Cinemablend.com reports that due to the recent events with COVID-19, many tv shows have experienced an early shutdown on production. This situation has left many shows to cut their season finale’s short or end abruptly, and The Blacklist is no exception. But thankfully, Diego Klattenhoff, who plays FBI agent Donald Ressler has an optimistic outlook that the last episode for season 7 will work as a great finale.
So, where does that leave the now season finale amongst its other episodes? This episode would be 12 out of an already planned 22. In a recent interview with TV Line, Diego Klattenhoff stated that:
“EPs Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath] have a knack for being able to shape and mold these characters and bend them into these spaces[.] It’s going to tee up everything for Season 8… I don’t think it’s a bad thing that we got shut down earlier than expected. The finale’s going to be something to behold.“
While Klattenhoff’s statements may put some fan’s minds at ease, the question remains, will The Blacklist still end with the massive family battle viewers were promised? Or will that get pushed back to season 8? On the bright side, viewers can rest assured that there will be a finale for season 7. Other shows have not been as lucky to have a season finale, but The Blacklist has beat all the odds in giving their viewers closure to this season’s end.
James Spader previously teased that some exciting developments would happen that would start season 8 off with a bang! But will fans of The Blacklist get to see those things unfold in light of the recent events happening in the world? Although David Klattenhoff seems optimistic about the shows ending, he does not go into specifics about the season 7 finale. Still, he does stand by the shows’ ability to come up with creative and innovative ways to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
For the 150th episode of season 8, the creators of the show will bring on Joely Richardson and Al Rocker as guest stars. To say that season 7 has been an emotional rollercoaster so far would be an understatement. Season 7 finale of The Blacklist will air Friday, May 15, at 8 pm E.T. on NBC. In the meantime, you can check out the previous seasons now on Netflix.
