Andy Muschietti Confirms The Flash Movie is Still Based On Flashpoint

Last year we announced that Andy Muschietti Director of (It Chapter 1& 2) will direct DC’s The Flash, and that it won’t have Andy’s horror flavor to it. But Andy announced today that he’s still attached to direct The Flash, and it looks like he’s also sticking to the original plan to make a Flashpoint movie for the basis for the script.

Muschietti was on the The Hashtag Show he recently took part in a Q&A with the cast of Underwater. While moderating the panel, Muschietti confirmed that he’ll officially start on The Flash later this year and that it will indeed adapt Flashpoint. However, he shared that it will be a “different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting.”

Warner Bros. first revealed that their Flash film would be inspired by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert’s Flashpoint comic as early as 2017. The studio even went so far as to change the movie’s title to Flashpoint. But following last month’s announcement of the film’s 2022 release date, it doesn’t sound like this is still the case.

As of right now hearing this news makes me speculate that maybe Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa will be recasted in the future, because of Flashpoint. I also wouldn’t be surprised if this is also the introduction to Robert Pattinson’s Batman as well. I’m also disappointed if they do recast Jason and Gal, because I feel like that they really understood their characters. I’m also skeptical at how long Andy will be starched to this film considering many directors has come and left before him. But only time will tell when this movie will actually get developed.
